Dryer Use & Tips: How to Get the Most from Your Cycle
Our dryers are priced for a 30-minute cycle. If your clothes need more time, you can add quarters while the dryer is still running to extend the cycle without interruption. Just make sure to add time before the countdown hits zero — once it reaches 0, the machine resets and you’ll need to start a new 30-minute cycle. From our experience, items like towels, jeans, and heavy fabrics often need a few extra minutes to dry fully.
You're welcome to open the dryer door at any time to check on your laundry. Just keep in mind that opening the door too often, or leaving it open too long, can let the heat escape and slow down the drying process.
Dryer Cycle Reset Warning: These machines have a built-in reset feature from the manufacturer. If you add quarters and then wait too long to press start, or if you open the door mid-cycle and don’t restart it promptly, the machine will reset — and any money already added may be lost. To get the best results:

Add quarters only when you're ready to start drying. Wait until the washer finishes — adding coins too early can cause the dryer to time out before you begin.

If you open the door mid-cycle, just close it and press start again right away. If left open or idle too long, the machine will reset for the next customer.

What’s Not Allowed in Our Machines?
We get it — laundromats can sometimes have a reputation as the place to wash items that might be too dirty or too risky for your own home and machines. While some places may look the other way, that’s not how we operate.
At Soap Opera Laundry, we’ve invested a lot into our machines and work hard to keep them in great shape for all our customers. We’ve created a welcoming, clean environment where you can feel confident using our machines, knowing your laundry will come out just as fresh and clean as it would at home. We understand how important it is to find a dependable, clean space, and part of that is being mindful of what goes into our machines.
By following our guidelines, you’re helping us keep everything running smoothly and ensuring that our machines stay in top condition for everyone. To protect that standard, please refrain from washing or drying the following items in our machines:

All Horse-Related Items- Includes horse blankets, saddle pads, rugs, boots, and other equestrian gear.

Large or Commercial Rugs- Doormats, entryway rugs, and thick household rugs with heavy fur or loose fibers are not allowed.

Shoes- Any kind, any type — please don’t put shoes in our washers or dryers.

Pillows- No pillows of any kind. Feather, memory foam, gel, or other non-washable fills will tear open and cause damage.

Pet Beds & Stuffed Items- These often burst open, leak stuffing, and clog up the machines.

Items with Excessive Fur, Shedding Fabric, or Plush Material- These can block drain lines and leave a mess for others.
🐾 A Friendly Note About Pet Hair
We truly love pets — but fur-filled laundry is tough on machines. If your items have a lot of pet hair, please shake them out outside before putting them in a washer or dryer. This small step makes a big difference in keeping the machines clean, fast, and working well for the next person. And just a heads-up: pet beds, stuffed toys, and similar items aren’t allowed, as they tend to tear and cause problems.
